What Was He Thinking

Well, as we go through the upcoming days, people will ask “What was Eliot Spitzer thinking?” I can probably give you a few hints. I have said many times that happy men don’t cheat. I’m not blaming Spitzer’s wife for his behavior, but there is more to this than paid sex. So, what was he thinking? 1. I won’t get caught. This was partly arrogance and ignorance. Did he think he was invisible? Oh, I got it.

The truth

He thought he could trust the prostitutes. Actually, those thoughts were proved to be true, but he got caught up into an investigation into his finances. Strange transactions with strange companies caused investigators to start looking under rocks. 2. If I get caught, I will explain my way out of it. Dumb idea. See the more likely idea in number 3. 3. If I get caught, I don’t really care--I love doing this. Unfortunately, this is probably the truth.

Unhappy

At some level, he made a decision that he might get caught and it was worth the risk. 4. There is something wrong in my marriage. Be very clear that happy, content men don’t just go looking up prostitutes. This man was very unhappy. He spent thousands of dollars to be with prostitutes. Nobody knows what happens in marriages, but do not believe this man was happy.

Final Words

On March 12, a high-end prostitute on the Today Show said she found that most of her customers were looking for an emotional connection. I don’t know what Eliot Spitzer was looking for, but I’ll bet it was more than sex. You can get sex for a lot cheaper than $4,200/hour. He was clearly looking for something else.
